S Dhawan and D Christian then had a 37 run partnership in 23 balls and just when it looked that Deccan Chargers are getting settled, S Dhawan got out after scoring 41 runs off 24 balls which included 2 fours and 4 sixes. K Sangakkara and D Christian then took the score to 82 when Sangakkara got out leaving Deccan at 82/4 in 12.3 overs. D Christian and C White then took the charge of accelerating the run rate, the duo added 41 runs in 23 balls before Christian got out after scoring 38 runs off 36 balls which included 1 four and 2 sixes. C White played some good shots for his 22 ball 30 run which included 1 four and 2 sixes cameo and helped Deccan Chargers post a total of 138/9 in 20 overs.

Chasing 139 to win, Mumbai Indians lost both their openers to D Steyn and were reeling at 10/2 in 4 overs. Rohit Sharma and A Rayudu then took the team score past 50 in the 11th over. MI needed 90 to win from last 10 overs. With the required rate at 9 runs per over, chances had to be taken and during the process, A Rayudu got out. But his wicket brought Pollard on the crease and he along with R Sharma started to score runs with ease. The duo added 37 runs in 5 overs before Pollard was out after scoring 24 off 18 balls (0x4 3×6). The match was evenly poised at this stage as MI needed 45 to win from 24 balls and stage was all set for a nail-biting finish. Rohit Sharma completed his half century and the hit some mighty sixes to bring the game to last over. MI needed 18 to win in the last over and the first ball was hit for a four by J Franklin. In last three balls 11 were needed, Rohit Sharma hit a six to take his team to 134/5 in 19.4 overs. On Last ball, MI needed 3 to win and Rohit Sharma hit a six to give his team a great victory. It was the superb performance of Rohit Sharma 73 not out of 50 balls (4×4 5×6) which helped Mumbai Indians win by 5 wickets.
