Today in the 37th match of DLF IPL 2012, Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first. Mandeep Singh and Shaun Marsh opened the innings for them and gave them a solid 68 runs first wicket stand in just 8.1 overs. Marsh was the first breakthrough for Chennai and came as a run out. Azhar Mahmood then played some good shots and scored 18 runs off 12 balls before getting out. At the end of 12 overs, KXIP were placed at 97/2 and it looked they will post a big total, but superb come back by CSK bowlers brought CSK back in game. In the 16th over, D Miller got out when the team score was 127. It was this wicket which led to a series of wickets for Chennai as Kings lost 5 quick wickets and were restricted to 156/8 in 20 overs.

Chasing 157 to win, Chennai got off to a good start with Faf du Plessis and S Badrinath adding 47 runs in just 5.3 overs. Faf du Plessis was the first to fall after scoring 29 runs off 20 balls. In the 8th over, Mahmood striked again and got the wicket of S Badrinath. Suresh Raina once again failed and CSK were struggling at 71/3 in 10.2 overs. Kings XI Bowlers were well complemented by the fielders and run scoring was made really difficult for CSK. The pressure of increasing run rate was getting on to the nerves of CSK batsmen and a twin blow in the form of W Saha and MS Dhoni left them struggling at 88/5 in 13.2 overs. CSK were depending on Jadeja but the most expensive played failed to deliver and was out after scoring just 17 runs. CSK were struggling at 98/6 in 15 overs and needed 59 to win from last 5 overs. D Bravo played some good shots for his 21 ball 30runs and the match was all set for a last over finish. Finally it was KXIP which hold on to their nerves and won the match by 7 runs.
