The 5th match of the Indian Premier League was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. Chasing the target of 166 Royal Challengers Bangalore got to a good start. Dravid and Chanderpaul made 37 runs for the first wicket before Chanderpaul was out. Rahul Dravid was the next one to get out and the team score was 68/2 in 8.5 overs.Ross Taylor was the next to go without bothering Mumbai Indians much. Virat Kohli played a short cameo of 23 runs of 14 balls and was out due to a irresponsible shot. At the end of 13.3 overs Royal Challengers Bangalore were 106/4 with and still needed 60 more runs to win the match. Jacques Kallis and Mark Boucher started to play responsibly and played some excellent shots to take the team victory.The partnership of these two was of 55 runs which proved to be enough for the victory. The winning runs were scored by Balachandra Akhil in the last over of the game.
In the 5th match of IPL, Mumbai Indians were against Bangalore Royal Challengers at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Sachin Tendulkar missed the match due to injury and Harbhajan Singh was the captain for them. He won the toss and decided to bat first. The start was not as Mumbai Indians wished to had and they lost the first wicket at team score of 9. Sanath Jayasuriya was the key player and he made 26 before he was run out by Zaheer Khan. Shaun Pollock came to center and from the very first ball he smashed the bowl to all corners of the ground. Abhishek Nayar played some useful shots before perishing for 20 runs of 14 balls.Zaheer Khan bowled Pollock of the last ball and Mumbai Indians were limited to 165 runs in 20 overs.
After what was one of the best batting performance in Twenty20, it was the turn of the bowlers to steal the show. They dented the so said strong batting line of Royal Challengers. Ishant Sharma gave the initial break through by tricking Rahul Dravid – The Wall and then the Royal Challengers Batsmen started falling like a heap of cards.
At the end of the first 10 overs Royal Challengers were 51/7 while chasing the huge 223 in 20 overs.The task looked really impossible and the Knight Riders Bowlers were in no mood to let the Royal Challengers batsmen score easily.The last wicket partnership tried to save some of the salvage but it was a little too late and in they end they lost the match by a huge 140 by being all out for 82. Ishant Sharma was the one who finished the proceedings by picking up the last wicket.
