Match 31 Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview

Match: 31 T20, IPL3
Venue: Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali
Date: April 2, 2010
Time – 8:00 pm

The underdogs Kings XI Punjab will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore today at PCB Mohali. Kings XI Punjab have lost 6 out of the 7 games played so far and are placed last in the points table. Seeing the current form of Royal Challengers Bangalore, it looks that Priety Zinta’s Kings XI has a very small chance of winning today. But as they say, cricket is a game of uncertainty and we should not prejudge, we hope that atleast one of the top order batsmen plays well for Kings XI Punjab today and give some moments of joy to Priety Zinta.

On the other hand, Kumble’s Royal Challengers are very confident of victory today because of the excellent form of some batsmen. Today’s match in IPL 2010 is expected to be a thriller as Royal Challengers would like to keep the winning momentum where as Kings XI Punjab are playing for pride and have nothing to loose.

Royal Challengers batsmen played with caution and at one stage they had crossed the 100 run mark with the loss of just 2 wickets. At this stage it looked that now they will fire all cylinders and will try to pose a huge total. But excellent bowling by Chennai Super Kings bowlers played spoilsport as Royal Challengers could not score freely at will. Kevin Pieterson and C White did get some hits in the final overs and thus could manage to take the team score to 161/4 in 20overs.

His innings laid a platform for the middle order to taste victory. Chennai Super Kings were well placed at 118/2 in 14 overs and needed 44 runs in 6 overs with 8 wickets in hand. But soon they lost 2 quick wickets and at the end of 18 overs they were 146/4. Chennai Super Kings needed 16 to win in 12 balls and it could have been anyone’s game. Match 20 Delhi Daredevils Won By 17 Runs Against Royal Challengers Bangalore

Match: 20th T20, IPL3
Venue: M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore
Date: March 25, 2010
Time: 4pm IST
Toss: Royal Challengers elected to field
Result:Delhi Daredevils won by 17 runs

Royal Challengers won the toss and invited Delhi Daredevils to bat first.Desperate to get the winning momentum back,Delhi Daredevils openers gave them a good start. Warner and Sehwag scored over 10 runs per over before Warner got out in the 4th over with team score of 44/1 in 3.2 overs. Soon Sehwag also got out but Delhi Daredevils batsmen continued to make runs at good run rate. AB Villers and Kedar Jadhav got to a good partnership. Kedar Jadhav came as a surprise shocker for Royal Challengers Bangalore as he scored 50 runs of just 29 balls. In the end, Kedar Jadhav and Andrew McDonald took Delhi Daredevils score to 183/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 184 to win, Royal Challengers Bangalore started on a cautious note. The strategy seemed to be to save wickets and then launch the attack in end overs. Manish Pandey and Kallis gave them a solid start and took the score to 71 before Kallis got out in the 10t over. It was this wicket which paved way for Delhi Daredevils to strike back and break the middle order of Royal Challengers Bangalore. From 71/1 they were reduced to 90/4 in 12 overs. They needed a partnership to get another 94 runs in 8 overs. The required rate was mounting and the Royal Challengers Bangalore crumbled under this pressure. To add to the woes, some superb fielding by Delhi Daredevils and poor running by Royal Challengers led to 3 run outs. Royal Challengers could manage only 166/9 and thus lost the match by 17 runs.
