No IPL matches in Maharashtra after April 30, 2016

In a shocker to BCCI and IPL, the Bombay High Court has ruled to move 13 matches of the ongoing IPL season out of Maharashtra. The ruling came after a PIL has raised hue and cry over the wastage of water in Maharashtra which is reeling under severe drought.

However the court has given some relief as it has only asked IPL to move matches after April 30. This means that all the matches before 30th April will be played as scheduled.

Though BCCI gave all sorts of explanations like very less water is being used, only treated sewage water is used for ground preparations. Also Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants also proposed to contribute INR 5 crore to the Maharashtra chief minister’s drought relief fund and supply 40 lakh litres of water to drought-hit areas at their own cost. But the court rejected and passed the order to move away the matches.
