Just before the IPL season 10 start, the IPL teams are loosing their players due to injuries. Also some of the big names opted out for this season thereby putting the team managements and IPL committee to rethink the business strategy.
Out of all the teams, the biggest loser seems to be Royal Challengers Bangalore who earlier lost their captain Virat Kohli due to a shoulder injury and now their other star batsman KL Rahul is out as he as to undergo a surgery. RCB’s make in captain AB De Villiers recently missed a domestic match due to back injury and his participation in IPL is also doubtful.
Delhi Daredevils captain JP Duminy opted out of IPL citing to ‘personal reasons’. Quinton de Kock will also be missing due to tendon damage in index finger.
Rising Pune Supergiant will be missing Mitchell Marsh who was ruled out of the IPL after he underwent a surgery. Also R Ashwin will be missing from the action this time.
Mitchell Starc also decided to opt out this season.
Umesh Yadav (Kolkata Knight Riders), Ravindra Jadeja (Gujrat Lions), Murali Vijay (Kings XI Punjab) would also be missing few matches in the IPL 2017.
Call it a superstition or not but this time around, Rising Pune Supergiants have decided to remove the last “s” and call themselves as Rising Pune Supergiant. If the team spokesperson is to be believed, this has nothing to do with any superstitious belief but a fact that they believe that the entire team is a supergiant.
“Last year when he called ourselves Supergiants, we were looking at four to five players in the squad who had supergiant abilities. While we were preparing for this IPL, we thought why just a few players, the entire team is supergiant. So, that is why we decided to go with Supergiant this time,” the spokesperson said.
Earlier, the Pune team decided to replace MS Dhoni with Steven Smith for IPL -10.
The team debut last year was not what they had expected as they lost nine matches out of 14 and were placed second last in the table. Hope the new name and new captain changes fortune for them this time.
