Today in the 58h match of Pepsi IPL 2013, Pune Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first. Aaron Finch and Robin Uthappa failed to give them a solid start as Finch got out after scoring just 10 when the team score was 13. Robin Uthappa too managed just 11 and Pune were reduced to 25/2 in 4.4 overs. Manish Pandey and Yuvraj Singh then set the innings back on track as the duo added 59 runs in 8.2 overs and laid a platform for a decent total. But within the span of 6 balls, three wicket fell and from 84/3 Pune were reduced to 85/5 in 13.5 overs. With all settled players gone, Pune lost the tempo and wickets started to fall at regular interval. The Warriors managed to score just 34 runs off their last 8 overs and thus posted 112/8 in 20 overs.
Chasing 113 to win, Mumbai Indians lost Dwayne Smith on the very first ball of the innings. Sachin Tendulkar and Dinesh Karthik also fell cheaply as they scored 15 and 17 respectively but then came Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu who made sure that no more wicket fell and Mumbai head towards an easy win. The duo added 54 runs and took the score to 93 before Ambati Rayudu got out after scoring 26. Finally Mumbai registered a comprehensive win by 5 wickets to move to number two spot in points tally.
