After wining the toss, Mumbai Indians invited Kings XI Punjab to bat. Kings XI Punjab were playing withhout Sangakkara. Shaun Marsh replaced him for todays match. Kings XI Punjab lost wickets at regular interval and could not get any partnership. S Marsh was the lone warrior from Kings XI Punjab who continued to score 57 in his first match. It was due to his innings and last over hitting by Piyush Chawla that Kings XI Punjab were able to post a total of 163/10 in 20 overs.
Chasing the total of 164 to win and reign supreme, Mumbai Indians got to a flying start with both Sachin and Shikar Dhawan scoring 42 runs for first wicket partnership. Sachin though got out soon but he still managed to become the leading batsmen in IPL and thus get the orange cap. At the end of 10 overs, Mumbai Indians were well placed at 82/2 and were in total control of the game. But then Kings XI came back strongly and took few quick wickets. This put some pressure and the game became more interesting with both sides having equal opportunity to win. Mumbai Indians needed 31 to win in last 3 overs and had 5 wickets in hand. Kings XI Punjab bowlers couldn’t restrict as Tiwary played off some good shots and took the team on verge of victory. Finally Mumbai Indians won the match by 4 wickets and Kings XI nightmare in IPL 2010 continued…
