Delhi Daredevils after winning the toss elected to bat first at the Ferozshah Kotla in Delhi. Kolkata opened the bowling with Chris Gayle, which was a suprise move. Sehwag and Warner opened the innings for Delhi Daredevils. Sehwag scored two boundaries off Gayle and then Gayle took the revenge by getting the priced wicket of Sehwag. The gamble played off for KKR and the dangerous man was out for 8. Gambhir who was back from an injury also could not do much and got out for just 1. Karthik also failed and got out for a duck. But the star was David Warner. He smashed an unbeaten century, he was at his devastating best scoring 107 off just 69 balls.

Paul Collingwood playing in place of AB de Villiers also showed his class and scored a fifty. Both Warner and Collingwood helped Delhi Daredevils score a decent total of 177/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing 178 to win, Kolkata Knight Riders got to the worst possible start loosing three quick wickets. Mandeep Singh and Manoj Tiwary got out for duck leaving Kolkata Knight Riders 21/3 in 4.2 overs. Gayle did showed some hope to Kolkata Knight Riders team but was eventually out after scoring 30runs. David Hussey and Angela Mathews then got in a partnership but the required rate was rising at a very fast pace and reached 13.95 in the 14th over. Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen succumbed to the increasing run rate pressure and could manage only 137/9 in 20 overs and thus Delhi Daredevils won by 40 runs.
