Kolkata Knight Riders thrashed Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets to stay in the contention of playoffs.
Chasing 155 to win, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a superb start with openers Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir adding 64 runs in 7 overs for the fist wicket stand. Gambhir was the first to fall but even after his fall, runs came in easy as Uthappa and Manish Pandey kept the score card ticking. Chennai had a ray of hope when Jadeja got the wicket of Robin Uthappa (67 off 39 balls 10×4, 1×6) but Shakib Al Hasan erased all hopes with a cameo of 46 in 21 balls(6×4, 2×6). Finally KKR chased the target in the 18th over and won the match by 8 wickets.
Earlier Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to field first. Chennai Super Kings lost opener Dwayne Smith in the second over when the team score was just 5. Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina then played some exciting cricket to take the score to 60 but Narine got better off McCullum and got his wicket when he was on 28. Suresh Raina stood firm on one end and continued his good form in IPL. He scored 65 off 52 balls and was well supported by Faf du Plessis(23 off 20 balls) and MS Dhoni (21 off 15 balls) Finally CSK were able to post a total of 154/4 in 20 overs.
