This wicket gave Chennai a chance to comeback into the match and the bowlers bounced CSK back and restricted Pune to 159/5 in 20 overs.
Chasing 160 to win, Chennai lost opener Srikkanth Anirudha on the second ball of the innings. Pune bowlers bowled an excellent line and got the priced wicket of Suresh Raina in the 5th over. With scorecard reading 23/2 in 4.2 overs, CSK needed a partnership but Nayar striked and got the wicket of Murli Vijay. With 40/3 in 6.4 overs, CSK needed a partnership, S Badrinath and Ravindra Jadeja then steadied Chennai Super Kings innings and just when the duo looked set, S Badrinath got out after scoring 34. Once again the responsibility fell on the shoulders of Captain Cool Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to rescue their team but Pune’s Marsh got better of Jadeja as he got out after scoring 27 off 22 balls. With 46 to win from last 3 overs, the pressure was too much for even captain cool as he lost his wicket and with his wicket, all hopes for Chennai also ended.
