Today in the 45th match of IPL 2013, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. Wriddhiman Saha and Michael Hussey added 27 runs for the first wicket stand before Wriddhiman Saha got out. With this, Suresh Raina came to the center and he took total control of the situation. He along with M Hussey added 55 runs before Hussey got out after scoring 35 in 29 balls. But there was no stopping by for Suresh Raina who hammered every KXIP bowler. He continued to score a brilliant 53 ball 100 which included 7 fours and 6 sixes. Though MS Dhoni was run out for just 2 but Raina and Albie Morkel then took the team to a decent 186/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing 187 to create an upset, Kings XI Punjab lost opener Luke Pomersbach in the second over when the team score was just 13. Mandeep Singh also got out after scoring 15 leaving the team at 36/2 in 6 overs. Shaun Marsh then took center stage and built an innings along with first David Hussey and then David Miller. Shaun Marsh scored 73 off 51 balls and maintained KXIP’s hopes for a win. After his wicket, David Miller continued from where he had left and kept the hopes alive. Needing 19 to win from last over, KXIP lost the plot as three wickets fell in that over and finally they could manage to post 171/6 in 20 overs.
