Chennai Super Kings suffered a humiliating defeat today at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore edge past them by 5 wickets to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Chasing 139 to win, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost Parthiv Patel in the 4th over when the team score was just 14. Captain Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle then slowly built the innings and took the score to 75. Kohli was the next to fall after scoring 27 in 29 balls. Gayle and AB de Villiers took the score past 100 and kept RCB alive. AB de Villiers then came to the team rescue as he scored 28 in 14 balls to take his team inches away from victory. Earlier Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum opened the innings but in the 5th over, they both became victims of Aaron and CSK were reduced to 29/2. But Suresh Raina and David Hussey then steadied the innings and took the score past 100. Suresh Raina remained unbeaten and scored a brilliant 48 ball 62 and along with 25 from Hussey helped CSK post a total of 138/4 in 20 overs.
