In a bizarre turn of events, Politics have scored over cricket as IPL governing body has succumbed to the pressure of Tamil Nadu government and have decided that in IPL 2013 matches, no Sri Lankan player or official will participate in the matches to be played in Chennai. The main reason for this decision was security of the players and officials as stated by IPL governing body.

“The security of all involved in the IPL, whether players, spectators or those working in the stadiums, is of paramount importance to the BCCI,” the statement said. “The governing council decided that Sri Lankan players will not participate in the IPL 2013 league matches in Chennai and will advise the nine franchises accordingly.”

Following players will be impacted with this decision:-

Nuwan Kulasekara (Chennai Super Kings)
Akila Dananjaya (Chennai Super Kings)
Mahela Jayawardene (Delhi Daredevils)
Jeevan Mendis (Delhi Daredevils)
Sachithra Senanayake (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians)
Ajantha Mendis (Pune Warriors)
Angelo Mathews (Pune Warriors)

Muttiah Muralitharan (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Tillakaratne Dilshan (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Chennai Super Kings will be the team which will feel the heat the most as they have to play 8 home matches in Chennai. After this decision, voices have been raised to change the venue but its still unclear if IPL governing body is thinking about it.
