The grand opening of DLF Indian Premier League enthralled the audiences today at the YMCA College of Physical Education, Chennai. The evening started at 7.30 pm with fans cheering loud for some of the leading international celebrities. Some of the big names included Amitabh Bachchan, American sensation Katy Perry, Priyanka Chopra, Prabhu Deva, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

The evening started with Amitabh Bachchan’s poem “If I were to be born again” written by Prasoon Joshi and dance choreographed by Shiamak Davar.

Soon after that, South African band and Colonial Cousins entertained the crowd with their performance.

Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra then danced on the tunes of “Aaj ki raat” and “Dhantanaa” and even urged Sourav Ganguly and Harbhajan Singh to dance with her. The crowd applauded the dance of Priyanka and Harbhajan and it was a perfect stage for India’s dancing sensation Prabhu Deva to burn the dance floor. He danced on famous songs from Wanted and Hum Se Hai Muqabla.

Kareena Kapoor then gave a dazzling performance on Chamak Challo and entire YMCA ground applauded her sensational performance.

Ravi Shastri welcomes the captains of the 9 IPL teams – Rahul Dravid (Rajasthan Royals), Gautam Gambhir (Kolkata Knight Riders), Sourav Ganguly (Pune Warriors), Adam Gilchrist (Kings XI Punjab), Virender Sehwag (Delhi Daredevils), Harbhajan Singh (Mumbai Indians), Cameron White (vice-captain), Daniel Vettori (Captain), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings).- BCCI president N. Srinivasan wishes all teams and says “May the best team win.”

After that Salman Khan entered and danced on various songs like Aaya re aaya bodyguard ,Teri meri prem kahani, O…O! Jane Jana, hud hud Dabang Dabang Oh my partner, and Dhinka Chika.

Katy Perry the American sensation then ended the IPL Opening Night by singing “Teenage Dream”.
