New South Wales won the first edition of the Champions League Twenty20, in a thriller against Trinidad & Tobago. Playing for the prize money of US $ 2.5 million in Hyderabad, the match was an absolute thriller.
Trinidad & Tobago won the toss and decided to field first New South Wales lost first 6 wickets for just 83 but then Brett Lee played a marvelous knock of 48 along with Steven Smith’s 33 and thus they managed a score of 159/9. Trinidad & Tobago never had any decent partnerships and this is what proved to be costly for them and thus they lost the match by 41 runs.
Brett Lee won the Player of the Match and Player of the series awards.
